Just peachy.

Hello all,

Andrea here.  Yesterday was a wonderful celebration for my sister's upcoming marriage.  I had the privilege to host her bridal shower in my own backyard, and Mother Nature provided the perfect summer day for our shower.  My friend Lacey took professional photos at the event, so keep an eye out for an entry featuring all of the event styling soon.  One of my favorite things to do is event styling and I would love to share some tips and tricks I have learned.

For now, I would like to share my outfit of the day.  This dress was a big hit yesterday and I loved being able to share that it was only $3 at Salv-o!  Have we convinced you yet that thrift shopping is a good idea?  It is good for the environment, good for charity, good for saving money, good for having a unique style - well worth the effort.  I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing weekend!  In my opinion Sunday night came waaay too fast... but then again, doesn't it always?

We hung mason jars of flowers from my tree for a whimsical touch

Remembering Joyce

Good afternoon loves,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post - a post about a woman who impacted my life enormously.  My grandmother Joyce Lehman passed away last week at the age of 82, after several years of health challenges and a lifelong battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

She loved God and her family with everything, and her smile and hugs are unforgettable.  She cared about those around her, even her nurses who were there to care for her.  She also loved funny things like coffee-flavored candies and miniature animal figurines and Scrabble.

I often say that I inherited my "passion for fashion" from grandma.  She used to have shoes and handbags to match every dress, and clearly her dresses were nice as many have held up over the years and the few that I have inherited are still in style.  She had fun with fashion, and although she was a woman of depth, she appreciated silly little things like a good pair of heels.  That makes her inspiring and it makes her relatable.  It makes me proud to be a part of her family tree.

Here are some photos of Joyce through the years.

Her college graduation photo

I have this swimsuit in my closet - still in style after all these years.

Those shoes!

Pictured Right

Love this one!

This precious photo is the last photo I have with her, taken less than a week before she passed.  Pictured with her are my aunt, mother, sister, and me.

Love and Lace

Hello, Dear ones!

It's (FINALLY) Kriste and I am SO excited to be back with you all. As you may (or may not) know, right as we began to visit the Hollow, I changed relationship status from "girlfriend" to "fiance"! Along with the excitement of the news, inevitably came the time consuming task of planning a wedding in a mere few months. I am so incredibly blessed to have my cohort, Andrea, who has kept things moving while I have been running around picking table linens, tasting food, searching for treasures and trying to balance a normal life.

With all of these wedding plans buzzing through my brain, I can't help but translate a lot of the themes from my big day into my everyday wardrobe. As most everything will be either vintage or hand made, my love of all things old has swept me away. The underlying theme of the day will be burlap and lace- which has morphed into many scraps of lace, doilies and eyelet scattered throughout my apartment. While on Pinterest the other day, I noticed that these lovelies have also been trending in on the fashion world, especially for summer, which had me overjoyed. While I have a few pieces in my own wardrobe, these had me drooling for the comfort of soft knits and delicate stitches.

Until next time- which I promise will be much sooner than my last sabbatical!

Steal Her Style

Why hello,

I love Florence + The Machine so much, I used Cosmic Love as my wedding processional.  Florence Welch describes her fashion style as this: "For the stage, it's Lady of Shalott meets Ophelia...mixed with scary gothic bat lady.  But in real life I'm kind of prim." - Wikipedia

A natural brunette, her red hair is unforgettable.  I enjoy women who do that - they find some stand-out look and adopt it as the centerpiece of their iconic style.  Here are some photos of Florence looking "prim" and otherwise!

All photos via pinterest.  Be inspired!

You Make All Things New

Hi dear ones,
June is here and today is my husband's birthday! We spent some time enjoying the outdoors and just being still.  I lost my grandmother yesterday and it has been a long, difficult week.  I will be doing a post all about her later this week (she was quite the fashionista herself) but until then, we pick back up and continue living life.. cherising every moment of this short (but sweet) life.
